Welcome to the IUCN WCPA Ecological Restoration Task Force website
Ecological restoration is an increasingly important element of protected areas management. It is a key priority of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Programme of Work on Protected Areas. In 2010, the IUCN WCPA established the Ecological Restoration Task Force with a primary purpose of developing guidelines on ecological restoration for protected areas.
The Ecological Restoration for Protected Areas: Principles, Guidelines, and Best Practices were officially launched during the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Jeju, South Korea on September 7.
A wide range of experts have contributed their extensive knowledge and substantial time to guide the development of the guidelines; we are deeply grateful for their help.

Our thanks to everyone who has taken the time to comment and contribute to the development of this document.
